I am fairly sure my dad was Irish although some think he may have been English. His last name was Martin but he and his brother were orphaned quite young and adopted by different families. Happily they found each other in their late twenties. But with my mom and dad gone now I can't get further info. I did find out online that the orphanage burned down with all its records.
I will say my father really lucked out with the people who adopted him. Dr. Charles Warren Stigman was a warm wonderful grandpa and his wife Bernice Chapman Stigman was a Brit and a former opera singer although I haven't found any record of her - yet! And she's the one who got me drawing as a child! Actually she showed me how to trace from her Vogue magazines! Anyone remember carbon paper? Ha! And her mother, great granny Chapman got me making up stories when I was about 4 years old! We would sit by a window and together make up stories about the neighbors and others we saw passing by! So that was the beginning of making up stories for me. Unfortunately not written down...I'd be curious what they were like. Well, again, a Happy St. PAddy's Day!
