The enhanced edition by Dr. Sue Eakin. And then ordered the movie. Both look excellent. And as there is a deeply buried child abuse thread woven through my trilogy FROM DARKNESS, those who suffered then and now because of slavery in all its many forms have always been close to my heart. - Jacqueline
You may have guessed because apparently 8 million people have watched it in one day. 20 strangers asked to kiss.
Beautiful and Magical. Transcendent. Gorgeous. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpbDHxCV29A I've been extremely lucky lately finding books I can't put down!
These are my great finds lately: And fortunate for me because I was weathering my worst cold ever and working full time at my day job. The job and the books kept me from some of my misery and so I survived! Well, I found Michael J. Sullivan's THEFT OF SWORDS thru watching a video of Joanna Penn interviewing him and another one of the dynamic publisher and his life partner Robin Sullivan on YouTube. I don't believe I've ever read any Swords and Sorcery before but I am solidly hooked on this series and what gorgeous covers! Today another great find! Valerie Martin who wrote MARY REILLY that I loved and admired, has a new book out: THE GHOST OF THE MARIE CELESTE. Valerie Martin will be appearing at the Center for Fiction here in NYC tomorrow Wednesday night but I'm still not well enough to go, my shoulder still mending too. But her book is now tucked on a shelf in my kindle. And the cover? One of Whistler's paintings. Beautiful. Can't wait! But enjoying my swords and sorcery first! Another first for me recently was reading a post-apocalyptic Zombie book - THE RETURN MAN! Now to be fair I have not attempted to read many zombie books but I was curious and those I started I did not finish. The Return Man by V.M. Zito I could not put down and didn't! The difference was his book had an equally strong human element to the story. That made the difference for me. I know I'll read all of these books again. The last of my really great reads is non-fiction or a novel based on a real person and his extraordinary life. That book would be UNBROKEN by Laura Hillenbrand who also wrote Seabiscuit. Unbroken tells the truly amazing life story of Louie Zamperini. I won't even try to describe it but between his life and Hillenbrand sterling prose I was in awe and gasping on nearly every page! So this is why I haven't been here. I've been sneezing, coughing, feverish, working, and then reading these books I highly recommend! But then I think the reading world knows all about them. At last I finally found them! Regarding my own books, the Kindle versions of FROM DARKNESS - AWAKENING & NET OF JEWELS are in process and Book Three - RETURNNNNNNN nearly fully edited. Getting back to them as soon as this cold allows. Probably should have had a flu shot and some antibiotics. Probably? Next time for sure! Read these books! They are soooooooooooooooo good! - Jacqueline |
